Biography

About Verse Metrics

Verse Metrics make intricate, emotionally charged alternative rock that whilst not immediately accessible, exponentially rewards the effort of repeat listens. Described by the Glasgow Evening Times as “twisty, turny alternative rock,” their sound bridges the cerebral precision of math-rock with the cinematic intensity of post-rock… all anchored by soaring melodies and lyrics that unravel the complexities of memory, isolation and connection.

Formed in Glasgow, the band have spent over a decade refining their sound through acclaimed releases including VM1, Radians, and We’ll Be Listening and Remembering Until We’re Old and Unsteady; earning support from BBC Introducing, Kerrang! and The Skinny, and headlining iconic Scottish venues such as King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut and La Belle Angelle.

Now consisting of Robert Dick (vocals/guitar), Alan Conway (guitar), Kevin O’Hagan (bass), Chris MacKinnon (keys) and Pete Colquhoun (drums), Verse Metrics are currently recording their first full-length album… a 10-track descent into deeper, darker territory that magnifies the tension between precision and chaos.

Set for release in 2026, it marks the band’s rebirth: a sharper, heavier and more emotionally resonant evolution of their trademark sound.
